No, you do not need a prescription. Notch works with a physician network to authorize test requisitions in every state where we offer our test kits.

No. Notch is not a medical facility and we do not have a doctor/patient relationship with you. Therefore, we cannot diagnose, prescribe, treat or provide personal medical advice. Our laboratory testing simply provides health insights for you to make more informed decisions surrounding your healthcare.

Notch is based in Washington state and our business hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (PT), Monday through Friday. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 24 hours, so hold tight—we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

Yes, you can use your FSA/HSA to pay for an at-home health test. Your Notch test is authorized by a physician, fitting the guidelines for most HSA/FSA coverage. We recommend you check with your own plan to verify before purchase.

We are unable to bill your insurance on your behalf. However, upon request, we can supply a bill for you to submit to your carrier for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to verify eligibility for insurance reimbursement.

No. Insurance coverage is unique to each person, so you'll need to reach out to your insurance carrier directly if you’d like to learn about your options. You can typically find a contact number on the back of your insurance card.

We currently ship to most U.S. addresses and U.S. territories, excluding New York State, New Jersey and Rhode Island. We do not ship to PO Boxes/APO/FPO addresses.

We offer free standard shipping with your purchase.

Your health test will be shipped with standard delivery and usually arrives within 5-7 business days of placing your order.

We want to make sure you are happy with your purchase and encourage you to contact our Customer Care team with your kit ID if you have any trouble with your order. Below is an overview of our policies surrounding returns and refunds:

• If your order has not shipped after 3 days of being placed, you are eligible for a 100% refund.

• If you decide to return the health test kit within 14 days of placing your order, you are eligible for a full refund, minus the cost of shipping, handling and processing fees (approximately $15 USD per kit).

• Orders placed more than 30 days ago are not eligible for any refund. 

• If your results have not yet been released, your order is not eligible for a refund. Please wait until after you receive your results to contact us.

• Due to health concerns, Notch cannot accept returned or unused test kits. If you received your order and do not wish to conduct the test, we ask that you dispose of the test kit.

No, our test kits do not expire, but you must return your kit within 48 hours of collecting your sample.

It's more convenient, lower in cost and generally less invasive than an in-person lab test. Since our tests are processed in the same labs used by doctors, clinics and hospitals, you get the same level of accuracy without having to visit the actual lab.

All tests are restricted to subjects over the age of 18.

We use FDA-cleared and approved analyzers, and our COVID-19 Test has been FDA-authorized for emergency use. Our tests are also validated through a complex, multi-step process CLIA-certified laboratory.

If and when possible, we encourage everyone to use their own doctor and health insurance for health tests. Home health testing is often more convenient and flexible than traditional health testing. However, we are not a replacement for visiting a doctor and do not diagnose, prescribe, treat or provide personal medical advice.

Once the sample has been analyzed by our laboratory, it is disposed of in accordance with biological specimen disposal standards.

Notch health tests are comparable to the tests you would take in a doctor's office. Samples are sent to our CLIA certified lab and analyzed by qualified laboratory technicians. The only difference is the method in which we collect your blood. We collect blood with a capillary blood sample (finger prick) instead of a venous blood sample (taken from the vein).

No, you do not have to fast before your test, unless advised otherwise by your healthcare practitioner. However, make sure you are well-hydrated and avoid consuming food or drinks 30 minutes before collecting your sample.

You should wash your hands for 30-60 seconds in warm, soapy water. Warming your hands before collection can increase blood flow to your fingers and make specimen collection easier. 

The sample requires blood to saturate through to the back of the collection card. Filling more than the required number of spots is recommended if you have continued blood flow, ensuring ample specimen quantity for testing. If there is not enough blood to test, our Customer Care team will reach out to you, to organize a replacement test.

As long as the blood has saturated through to the back of the collection card, you can dispose of the lancets. If you've used up both lancets and are concerned you don't have enough blood to provide a valid sample, please contact Customer Care.

We do not recommend consuming alcohol before collecting your sample. However, you are more than welcome to celebrate with some after. 😊

Depending on which test you ordered, you typically will receive your results in 5-10 business days. When your results are ready, we will send an email notification that directs you to the Notch Portal. If you have not received any notification from us after 10 business days, please contact our Customer Care team to investigate this further.

To ensure accurate results, your blood sample needs to saturate through to the back of the collection card. If you receive this notification, it’s likely there was not enough viable blood for our lab to process your test panel.  Please contact our Customer Care team to have a new test kit issued.
